The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.

From 6:00 a.m. on 06/04/2020 through 6:00 a.m. on 06/05/2020, MPD received 366 calls for service.  This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.  A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (51), East (72), Midtown (57), North (53), South (44), West (56), and Other (33).  "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City.  This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

NORTH: Suspicious Vehicle – 9:11 am.  Dispatch received a report of a vehicle parked in the 1400 block of Wright St.  Officers made contact with the occupant of the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.  The suspect (32-year-old male) was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

WEST: Death Investigation – 9:51 am.  Family members reported a subject (50-year-old male) in the home who was unconscious and not breathing.  Life saving measures were unsuccessful.  Evidence of drug use was found near the decedent.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

SOUTH: Sexual Assault – 10:29 am.  A victim reported a known suspect (43-year-old male) made inappropriate sexual contact with her.  Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Check Person – 10:41 am.  Officers responded to the intersection of Sachtjen St and Ruskin St where a vehicle which was reportedly riddled with bullet holes had been sitting.  Officers checked the vehicle and did not find it to have any bullet holes.

SOUTH: Sexual Assault – 12:38 pm.  A victim reported a female coworker made inappropriate sexual contact with her.  Investigation continuing.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 1:17 pm.  The suspect (34-year-old male) forced his way into the home of the victims (the suspect's sister and her boyfriend) and threatened them with a baseball bat.  The suspect fled before officers arrived.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for two charges of disorderly conduct while armed (one domestic) and criminal damage to property.

SOUTH: Damage to Property – 2:59 pm.  A homeowner discovered the A/C unit for the home had been damaged by a bullet.  Further inspection revealed several other parts of the house on the same side had been struck by gunfire.  None of the rounds penetrated the exterior.  The homeowner was unable to establish a time frame for when the damage occurred.
WEST: Runaway Juvenile – 4:19 pm.  A mother reported her 12-year-old son had run away.  The juvenile was listed as missing and an ATL was aired.

SOUTH: Runaway Juvenile – 12:36 am.  A family member reported a 14-year-old female subject had run away.  The juvenile was listed as missing and an ATL was aired.
